Beaded Flower Bag Charm



About this Pattern:

I love little crochet projects that don't take much time or yarn, and this flower bag charm is one of them. The beads are added to the yarn before you start crocheting, so there is no need to sew them onto the flower afterwards.

You can use the charm to decorate a handbag, backpack, or even a crochet bag. The leaf also doubles as the loop you use to attach the flower to your bag. You can also use it as a keyring.

This is a no-sew pattern, so you'll only need to weave in the ends. There are no complicated colour changes either, making this a very beginner-friendly pattern.

You can use any size bead you like! The bead size won't change the rest of the pattern, so go ahead and use your favourite beads.

Materials:
  • 6 beads
  • 3.0 mm hook
  • DK yarn in 2 colours
  • darning needle
  • scissors 
  • optional: sewing needle

Abbreviations (US):
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet

Pattern:
Use flower colour.
Attach your 6 beads to your yarn. If the holes are too small, you can use a sewing needle.
Tie a knot. Leave a yarn tail long enough to weave in at the end.


Chain 4 around the bead. Depending on the size of your beads, you might need fewer or more chains. This won't affect the rest of the pattern.
Sl st to attach to circle.
Repeat this around each bead.


Chain 3, make a puff stitch into the chain space, chain 3 and connect between the beads in the lowest chain with a sl st.
Repeat around each bead.


Switch to leaf colour.
Attach your yarn with a slip knot wherever you wish. Where you attach your yarn will be the top. Leave the tail long enough to weave in later.



Chain 38 (more if you want your flower to hang lower or if you want to attach it to a wide bag strap).
Turn.
Starting in the second chain from the hook:
1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc. 


Work the other way to make the other side of the leaf.
1 sc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st.
Fasten off.



Weave in all ends.

How to attach to your bag
Fold the chain in half to make a loop.
Place the loop behind your bag handle.
Pull both the flower and the leaf through the loop.
Pull tight.
